Steve Irwin, popularly referred to as the Crocodile Hunter, has motivated many people to value and safeguard wildlife. Maybe no one has influenced him more than his own family. His 20-year-old son, Robert Irwin, became a zookeeper, wildlife photographer, TV personality, and conservationist in his father’s footsteps. Despite working in Australia with crocodiles and snakes, which might be perilous, he radiates wholesomeness, charisma, excitement, and optimism. And though it’s just one instance among many, his participation at the 2024 Logie Awards is the best evidence available.
Irwin Robert at the Logies
Robert Irwin had spent the day collecting crocodiles for research, even though he was invited to the renowned TV awards ceremony and was nominated for the show. He was hurt throughout this excursion, but it didn’t stop him from grinning broadly as he walked the red carpet at the Star in Sydney.
He casually said, “I just came in from catching crocodiles up north,” to Dr. Chris Brown and Sonia Kruger, the hosts of the red carpet. “I just struck a tree with my head.” On the head of a crocodile. I made a lot of makeup, but I’m here. We’re fired up, and it’s great that I get to do it with one of my best friends. He’s talking about his co-host Julia Morris from the reality survival competition series I’m a Celebrity. Take Me Out of Here!
“From the land of crocs to the red carpet!”
Although he did not go into detail about his misadventure, the same enthusiasm was present in his Instagram post about it. “From the red carpet of the Logies to croc country! @godwincharli. @kristyenglishhairandmakeup for makeup. He wrote, “Styling @meg_durham,” as the description for a video of himself in muck.
His sister Bindi, who is 26 years old, retorted, “The best! Here on the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve, the whole croc expedition crew is rooting for you. We are eager! Extremely happy for you!
Robert referred to the evening as “a night to remember,” despite not taking home the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter or the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.
“The Motorbike Story of Dad”
Robert shared a heartfelt Instagram post in February that included video of his father riding a motorbike through Australia Zoo, followed by Robert himself. Robert said, “I had some of my best and earliest memories on that bike.” “It reminds me of so many things.” It means a great deal to me that he loved and used this piece of equipment every day when I get on that bike and follow his tour around the Australia Zoo.
Wing Day at the Fitness Centre
One evening in July, Robert discovered a microbat on the ground while working out. Before placing it on a high ledge where it could take off when it was ready, Irwin took it up and checked it over for injuries, something that most people would find horrifying. Despite the widespread dread of bats, he claims that, as natural pest controllers and pollinators, “they are actually beautiful animals.”
He said, “There you go, fella,” while recording the microbat on Instagram. He cautioned his audience at the end of the video not to handle bats with their bare hands and to always use a towel or crate—or, even better, to call animal control. “But they are beautiful animals.”
Examining a Damaged Snake
Robert Irwin discovered a Northern tree snake with a broken tail in August of this year. While educating his Instagram followers about the species, he caught it to study it. In addition to cautioning against picking up snakes, he states that it’s crucial to understand “that snakes aren’t out to get you.” The Northern tree snake isn’t poisonous, though. He reassures, “I wouldn’t be putting my head so close to his head if this was a venomous species.” Because I would die then and he would invenimate me.
The snake must have had a run-in with a predator, he observes, but it appeared healthy enough to crawl back into its natural environment after meeting the famous person.
Best Uncle
In addition to his love of animals, he also adores Grace, his 3-year-old niece. His social network is flooded with posts about this little girl, commemorating her first steps and other special occasions when they converse and perform music together.
Model and Zookeeper
The conservationist had a big smile on his face as he walked the Melbourne Fashion Festival runway in March. In any case, his admirers wouldn’t have anticipated the standard modelling sneer on him.
Is a Gene for Loving Animals?
Robert Irwin shared a picture of himself as a child together with a picture of Steve Irwin with two happy faces as part of yet another heartfelt ode to his father. Love of chameleons has to run in the family. He said in the caption of the January photo, “5-year-old me with a tiny chameleon on my head and my dad with a big, grown adult.”
Assisting Bindi on Her Health Journey
Bindi Irwin was up last year about the difficulties she faces due to the long-term illness endometriosis. She had surgery in March 2023 to have nearly thirty-six lesions removed from her body. Robert spoke at the EndoFound’s Blossom Ball in New York City on May 3rd, where she was given the Blossom Award. He stressed the necessity for males to “discuss and prioritise women’s health” and that this should become a “mainstream discussion.”
In a subsequent interview, he remarked, “I’ve never felt prouder to call Bindi my sister, not only to overcome her own pain, but to help others find answers as well.” “It’s still not really talked about because it’s crazy, especially in Australia.” The discussion is just now truly getting underway.
@robertirwin In recognition of Women’s Health Month, I wanted to share how my sister inspired me and so many around the world. It was an honour to introduce her alongside my mum to accept her award at the Endo Found Blossom Ball. Through her endometriosis journey, she taught me just how vital it is for us ALL to stand up and support women’s health…
