My former spouse gave our child a rocking horse. When I Opened It Up, My Attorney Answered
Genevieve’s gut told her something was wrong the moment Anthony, her ex-husband, handed their son a gigantic rocking horse. Anthony was always planning something, especially when it came to their kid Ethan. Despite her discomfort, Genevieve chose to keep her worries to herself.
As usual, Ethan was ecstatic about his new toy, but Genevieve couldn’t get rid of the suspicion that there was more to this present than first glance. Her suspicions were confirmed when Anthony called off their scheduled pizza date.
Ethan and the rocking horse grew close in the days that followed. However, the gadget quickly started making weird noises. Initially, Genevieve disregarded them, supposing it was merely the ancient wood’s cracking noise. But the clicking sound became more constant and louder. She decided to look into it one night after growing weary of ignoring it. She was shocked to see a secret room within the horse. Tucked somewhere within was a small voice recorder. She was completely taken aback to learn that Anthony was attempting to obtain evidence against her in order to contest their custody agreement.
Despite her anger, Genevieve was adamant that she needed to outwit him. When she called her attorney, he gave her the assurance that any evidence collected in this way would not be allowed to be used in court. Having found her purpose again, Genevieve came up with a plan. She ensured that whatever Anthony planned to record would be for nothing by flooding the recorder with hours of uninteresting TV noise.
Upon Anthony’s subsequent visit, Genevieve observed with a serene contentment that he would uncover nothing of significance. Anthony kept the situation to himself, a tacit admission of his misstep.
By cleverly manipulating her former spouse, Genevieve had managed to keep her son safe. Though it was a minor triumph, it made her more determined to stay watchful. She was certain she would stop at nothing to ensure her son’s happiness and safety, both now and forever.
