Speaking out against the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Candace Cameron Bure

Actress Candace Cameron Bure has highlighted how the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics made fun of Christianity, to which she is disappointed and saddened. Bure, a devoted Christian, considered the ceremony’s depiction of the Last Supper upsetting.

Bure expressed her opinions on Instagram, writing that even though she knows many competitors and respects the Olympics, she was “so sad” about this year’s event. She urged her disciples to never give up on doing good deeds and to keep preaching the gospel.

Bure’s interpretation of the event, meanwhile, has drawn criticism, with many trying to correct her. The ceremony, according to artistic director Thomas Jolly, was not intended to make fun of any particular religion, but rather to honor pagan mythology and community tolerance.

Olympic spokesman Anne Descamps expressed regret to anybody offended and clarified that no disrespect was intended.

Bure, who says she doesn’t see how the ceremony relates to uniting the world via sports and thinks it is inappropriate for children to witness, is unconvinced despite the apologies. She prays that those who follow her will hear what she has to say and realize how much God loves each and every one of them.
