My Date’s Sassy Mom Interrogated Me on Our First Date — I Decided to Outplay Them

On our first date, my date’s sassy mother questioned me, so I chose to outshine them.

On our first date, my date’s sassy mom showed up and began questioning me; I chose to outdo them.

When Ronny finds Claire, Denise’s mother, out on their first date, he’s shocked. Throughout dinner, Claire’s inquisitive questions and expensive demands reveal their true intentions. But Ronny, unfazed and witty, hilariously turns the tables on them both.

I’ve been using dating apps for a while, and I’ve experienced some terrible dates. The one I’m going to tell you about is very remarkable!

I matched with Denise a few weeks ago, and we hit it off right immediately. She finds my stupid jokes funny and finds me to be lovely and kind. I instantly asked her out on a date.

Finally, last weekend, they happened to coincide despite our busy schedules. We were planning to meet at this swanky, fashionable restaurant downtown.

I was excited beyond belief. I was early as usual. My natural inclination is to want to arrive first and make a good impression. As I waited, I took in the decor—the modern furniture, the muted sounds of conversation, the dim lighting. Perfect setting for a successful first date.

Then she came in. But she wasn’t by alone.

Next to her was an old woman, tastefully dressed, with a gaze that could probably cut through iron. My heart started to sag.

Hello, Ronny! This is my mother, Claire. Denise answered with a wide smile.

“Hello, nice to meet you,” I answered, trying not to let my surprise show.

Claire shook hands firmly and confidently with me. “Hello, Ronny. If I were to join you two this evening, would that be okay?

My mind racing, I said, “Of course not, the more the merrier,” through clinched teeth.

My thoughts were racing, trying to figure out what was going on in this peculiar situation. I wondered if it was a test, but then I understood that she had brought her mother along in case I turned out to be weird. Okay, now that makes sense. You can never be too careful these days.

As soon as we sat down, Claire took over the conversation.

“So, where do your parents work, Ronny?” She asked, her eyes fixed on me like a hawk on a mouse.

With a clear throat, I spoke. My mother is a teacher, and my dad is an engineer. But as of right now, they are both retired.

“Interesting. What city do you reside in? Are you renting your house or do you own it? She continued, not even taking a breath break.

“I live in a small house,” I replied, starting to feel more like I was in a job interview than a dating situation.

And what kind of work do you do? What is your source of income? Claire shot off a series of brief inquiries, the first one progressively more in-depth.

I turned to Denise, hoping she would offer some support, but all she could do was smile and nod, as though she was okay with her mother being interrogated. Wonderful.

With a clear throat, I spoke. “I told Denise what I do for a living already.”

With a nod, Denise turned to face her mother and announced, “Ronny’s a business analyst.”

<

Claire nodded in agreement, then leaned forward to meet my gaze. “Ronny, you seem like a nice fit for my Denise. We’re used to living comfortably and taking pleasure in life’s small pleasures, you see. Money is crucial for this.”

With a “I guess so,” I said. Though I was beginning to comprehend the bigger picture, I was dumbfounded by what she said next.

“We want these lobsters, by the way.” Claire reclined and slowly tapped the menu with her finger. “It’s your treat, right?”

I turned to face Denise, confident that this would be the moment she told her mother to shut up. Rather, she merely grinned at me.

This was not at all how I had planned it to go! Claire might have been a statue at that moment because she was obviously only interested in my money and Denise.

I was trying not to cry from feeling so powerless. Then a crafty idea entered my mind.

If they wanted to play games, that would be fantastic.

I smiled broadly. “Oh, without a doubt! It’s lobsters, folks! Since I’m all about living it up, I presume you’re here to have a serious chat with me about your daughter’s future, ma’am?

“She likes you very much, Ronny, and I need to ensure you’ll provide her with the sort of lifestyle she deserves,” Claire responded.

“I will without a doubt. I said, “Money is no object because my dad made investments for me when I was a kid, and I make millions of dollars every month from them.”

Claire’s eyes lighted and Denise’s mouth fell open. I had to bring forth all my poise to keep a straight face while I continued my absurd deception.

“And I’ll take care of Denise if we get married. She has to take care of our children, so she won’t have time to work anyhow. Naturally, I’ll buy you a house near ours since I know she’ll want her mom to assist.

They exchanged a gaze that was equal parts delight and disbelief. Lures and everything, they were all mine.

“Ronny, you amaze me!” That appears to be truly remarkable. Denise, did you hear that? Please give me a house of my own! Claire practically suckled at the thought, drooling.

With her eyes blazing, Denise leaned forward. “You’re too kind, Ronny. It’s astonishing how fortunate I am.”

I grinned to myself, relishing the tension before my big reveal. “Oh, without a doubt. I’m in favor of supporting my family and living a luxurious lifestyle.

Claire exchanged a look with Denise, no doubt seeing thoughts of luxury running through their brains. Claire became even more thrilled and began vocalizing her plans.

You know, I’ve always desired a house on the ocean. Somewhere light, with plenty of space for guests and a large yard. Claire said, “Maybe even a swimming pool,” her voice full of anticipation.

Denise said, “And I’d love a gourmet kitchen and a walk-in closet.” Whoa, Ronny, this is really amazing!

I continued to nod in agreement while trying to look sincere. That seems like the perfect solution. You must, of course, first get to know my other spouses. Before we can advance our friendship, they must give their blessing.”

The atmosphere at the table abruptly changed. Claire’s smile turned icy, and Denise’s jaw dropped open.

“Pardon me, what were you saying?” Claire’s voice had turned stern and suspicious.

“Other… wives?” A touch weak in her voice, Denise echoed.

I nodded while preserving my composure. Yes, I have previously been married twice. These are amazing women. We have a big family. Even though some kids were forced into foster homes due to their over spoiling, since you should have at least five children, everything will work out in the end.

Their color vanished from their faces. Denise seemed as though she would pass out, and Claire’s eyes became wide with horror.

“Five kids?” Denise gave a little moan.

“This… this is a joke, right?” Claire staggered, her confidence gone.

“No, not at all. Actually, it’s quite the lifestyle,” I said, attempting to contain my laughter at their reactions. “You’ll love it.”

Denise’s voice was shaking. “Ronny, why didn’t you mention this before?”

I casually shrugged. It didn’t seem relevant at the time. However, given how much talk there had been about houses and future plans, I thought it was imperative to be honest.

Claire’s amazement gave way to wrath. This is absurd on the highest level! How could you mislead us in this manner?

I leaned back, crossing my arms. “I wasn’t trying to trick anyone. just recounting my life. These are the things you should be aware of if you truly want to become a member of our family.”

When the bill came, Claire looked at it and scowled at me. “You do realize you’re paying, Ronny? After all, you are a millionaire.

I leaned forward and grinned. Yes, women are revered for their power and independence in my culture. I wish to offer you this chance to highlight such attributes. I can’t afford to pay for you.

Their expressions were a mixture of astonishment and indignation. Denise’s hands trembled as she grabbed for her handbag, and Claire’s fury was clear.

“You have to be joking with me!” Denise finally raised her voice and spoke.

“Nope, not at all. “This is your chance to show off your strength and independence,” I replied as I stood up to pay for my meal. “It was a pleasure to meet you both.”

I laughed out loud as I turned to go. From behind me, I could hear them hurriedly packing up their belongings, their tense voices growing louder in the once-calm diner.

Outside, the cool night air felt good. I took a big breath and reflected over the evening. The first date, which had appeared promising, quickly took a very different turn.

I was able to outwit them and undo their conceited actions by accepting an unexpected task. It was satisfying.

Not only was it a little win over Claire and Denise, but I also understood that I had advocated for myself. I had stopped them from exploiting me, and I had surprised and embarrassed them in the process.

Sometimes the easiest approach to deal with entitled people is to turn the tables on them. As Denise and Claire found out when they attempted to take advantage of someone for their money, it might backfire spectacularly.

I will always remember our amazing first date and the important lesson it taught me about speaking up for myself.

I couldn’t help but smile as I made my way to my car. For many years to come, this would be a fascinating tale. Not only was it strange and funny, but it also made me realize how strong and clever I am.

Seldom do we foresee the lessons that life will teach us. And that night I learned that the best way to deal with people who want to take advantage of you is to give them a taste of their own medicine.

The happiness I felt from outperforming them was far more valuable than any fancy dinner or expensive gift could ever be.
