Scott Hamilton, 65, an Olympic winner, recently got back together with other figure skaters to support cancer research through a fundraiser. Hamilton, who has fought a brain tumor three times, highlights his will to live life to the fullest and his desire for others to stop worrying about him.
In spite of the 2016 recurrence, he concentrates on leading an ordinary, busy life and inspires others to combat cancer with kindness.
The top two figure skaters that Olympic champion Scott Hamilton, 65, defeated to win the gold in 1984 were Brian Orser of Canada (who took home the silver) and Jozef SabovČík of Czechoslovakia (who took home the bronze).
Over the phone on Thursday, a beaming Scott Hamilton informed The Tennessean, “That’s very uncommon.”
“I don’t know of another podium that would wish to reunite after 40 years.”
The fact that the meeting was a fundraiser for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, which provides funding for cancer research, made Hamilton even more enthusiastic about it.
Hamilton is passionate about the topic, having moved to Middle Tennessee in 2005.
In 1977, while a youngster, he lost his mother to skin cancer.
This is the third brain tumor that Hamilton has had to deal with in the last twenty years.
In 1997, he overcame testicular cancer. It was killed by radioactivity the first time.
He underwent nine surgeries once more to remove the tumor.
When it reappeared in 2016, Hamilton underwent yet another difficult operation.
Until he started feeling ill, he made the decision to forgo medical care.
This week, that decision has been the subject of multiple news articles; the coverage of the 40th anniversary of his lone Olympic gold medal served as the impetus.
Fans are filled with concerns and questions after reading such tales, and Hamilton is affected by the overflow.
He advises those who are concerned about his health to continue doing well. Hamilton is the name.
He said, “I don’t want people to worry about me at all.” “I’m enjoying myself with house money now.”
“There are several reasons why I shouldn’t be here.” I am present as well. Every day is a festival for me.
Hamilton claimed to have received a spiritual instruction to “get strong” as soon as he learned that the growth had resumed.
They enquired as to my thoughts. “At home, I’m going to build up my strength,” I declared. That was the message, whether it was cerebral, emotional, or spiritual.
He underwent scans every now and then at initially. Every time there was a growth, it became more noticeable and less so.
However, he stopped having scans since the stress became too much for him to handle.
“I won’t worry about this one until I experience symptoms, such as losing my vision or experiencing other health issues. At that point, I’ll be able to make a decision,” he stated.
“At the moment, all I’m attempting to do is get as much done as I can, maintain a hectic schedule, and lead a normal life. Defend against cancer by living a moral life.
